Elizabeth Cho-Fertikh

Elizabeth Cho-Fertikh, PhD is a scientist-turned-angel investor who is Cofounder & Managing Director of MEDA Angels, a healthcare-focused angel investor group founded by physicians and scientists.  The group recently launched their inaugural MEDA Angels Fund 1, of which she is a General Partner.   Elizabeth comes to the healthcare investment world with 30 years of cross-functional operational experience in drug development, digital health, regulatory affairs, clinical trials and business development at biotechs & startups (Macrogenics, RegenXBio, Enterin, VLP Therapeutics & Playbl).  While at VLP Therapeutics, a life sciences startup company, she served as Director of Science and Business Development, steering an infectious disease vaccine from preclinical, thru FDA IND clearance and Phase 1 trials and garnering multi-million dollars in funding.  She has provided business development/commercialization support for digital health tech companies, supporting medical affairs-related activities, including provider education and medical copy content for marketing.  

She actively supports the innovation ecosystem by serving as a scientific/commercialization advisor to the National Cancer Institute’s Technology Transfer Office, as a reviewer of NCI SBIR grants and as a former investment committee member for the Virginia Commonwealth Health System.  Elizabeth currently serves as an Investor Relations and Commercialization Advisor to two digital health startups and as a Board Observer of a cancer therapeutics startup.

Elizabeth received her BA from Johns Hopkins, her MS from Georgetown University, her PhD from Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School & NIH.
